12/2/04 American Lung Association launches online survey for COPD patients and caregivers. The ALA is seeking information about people's needs and experiences with COPD to help them better serve patients and their families through their research, advocacy, and educational initiatives.
The survey includes roughly 20 questions and takes only 5 to 10 minutes to complete. In keeping with the ALA's privacy policy, none of the personal information submitted by respondents will be shared with any other agency or organization.

"In this partnership, the Aging Initiative will ensure that issues related to the environment and COPD are considered in program development and activities…." the agency wrote in a press release announcing the news.

11/20/02 Coalition marks first World COPD Day with a press conference in Washington, DC.
11/12/02 A local Ohio chapter of Coalition Partner EFFORTS (Emphysema Foundation For Our Right To Survive) held a gathering for patients to kick off a COPD awareness campaign. The meeting's organizers announced that the Mayor of Findlay and the Governor of Ohio have declared November "COPD Awareness Month."
11/02 Coalition Partner EFFORTS (Emphysema Foundation For Our Right To Survive), a Web-based patient organization that currently numbers around 900 people with COPD in various stages, has organized a list of COPD patients around the country who are willing to speak about their experience with the disease. EFFORTS also organizes Speakers Bureau of COPD patients.
